Final cut

After the recent event with corona virus, I was able to get my brother to be in my short film. With the change of actors my concept for my short film changed. Instead of it all being a mix of dream and real life, I decided to change the idea slightly to suit my new actor who is older. So I decided to make it a loop of a dream/nightmare that never ends. This idea came from those dreams you have when you wake up thinking its normal life but actually you are in a nightmare. As it is a short film I needed to come up with a way to end it. I decided to get shots of pictures to allow the audience to decide what happened to him in the end.

Unfortunately due to the recent Covid-19 I was unable to make changes to my short film, I have now also had to change my actor due to these events as they are unavailable to film.

To improve I need to film some more footage to get it up to 5 minutes long.

What Next?

Now that I have a beginning to my short film I need to think about filming the middle and ending of my short film. I need to remember to get my actor to wear the same clothing as she did in the beginning other wise it won't be a linear narrative and will become confusing.


I have just finished filming and editing the beginning of the middle part for my short film. There were a few shots I had to go back and film again as they weren't right for the film and didn't fit like I thought they would do when I shot them. I now need to think about where I am going to shoot for my city shots and how I want them to look.

Rehearsal Footage.

After watching back my rehearsal footage I saw that the camera I was using was making a lot of the footage blurry, I also saw when watching it back the part that I had filmed was all just tracking shots with no invisible cuts. I decided after watching it back to contact my actor again and go out and re-shoot it with a more detailed plan of what I was going to do at each point. The new footage that I have filmed looks a lot better and flows more. I also need to now think about what sound I am going to use if any.

At this moment I have decided not to do a script as I want to only use Foley sounds to heighten the senses of the spectators.


Plot Synopsis:
I have based it on how our worst nightmares are ourselves in the sense that we are the ones who stop ourselves from going for things.
